farewell' to Jannette Ryder

 Staff at the Academy said ‘farewell' to Jannette Ryder at Easter after 30 years in education.   

Jannette joined the office team at The Gateway Community College in September 2003 following the merger of Torells and St Chad's Schools and the closure of Jack Lobley Primary School. 

The start of her educational career was at Tilbury Manor Infant school in 1979 so without too much calculation it can be seen that she has worked in Thurrock schools for some 30 years.

Her vast knowledge built up over the years has been an invaluable asset to The Gateway Academy and indeed a recent comment from her was that her Year 4 students at Jack Lobley are now The Gateway Academy Year 11 students. It is therefore fitting that she attended the term end assembly to say farewell.

She has been a great asset to the Academy organising coffee mornings for the senior citizens of Tilbury in recent years and has always greeted parents, most of whom she has known for some considerable time, with courtesy and a genuine interest in their wellbeing.

We all wish her well in her retirement, sailing off into the sunset to enjoy her many cruises and other holidays and time with family and grandchildren.
